Action Alert: This summer, U.N. Special Rapporteur on Trafficking Sigma Huda was jailed in her home country of Bangladesh. In June, she was also prevented from presenting her report on trafficking at the Human Rights Council in Geneva. In November, she was convicted, along with her husband (a popular politician), on trumped up charges of corruption filed by the military dictatorship that took power last January. So far, the United Nations has done little to secure the release of their employee. If you have a moment, please refer to our editorial (PDF file) and contact the U.N. committees listed there. Thanks.
