Synopsis:
Recounts the rough-and-tumble exploits of Boston literary hostess Annie Adams Fields – wife of the famous publisher James Fields – who fends off advances from such luminaries as Nathaniel Hawthorne and Charles Dickens. Even a budding young Maine author, Sarah Orne Jewett, makes a pass or two, but Annie remains loyal to her husband – that is, until he suddenly drops dead in the living room in 1881.
